This is very close to home. Don't forget to document your visit...you should investigate the yield of 1700 seeds...how many plants? What kind of visitors? Pictures, drawings, notes...remember to share.

SCAVENGER HUNT...LOCATION #2.

Now.

Here's a chance. Saturday, June 2, from 10-1 you can gain free admission to see Ernesto Neto's Crocheted 'Cuddle On The Tightrope'.

First, you have to find out where this is showing.

I will hide two notebooks on the premises which you can adopt and make your very own. Inquire at the front desk to get your clues on where to look for the notebooks.

A few conditions.

  1. You document your trip in the notebook I'm providing. Drawings, artifacts, photos, and thoughts are all things you should include.

  2. When you get home, upload a picture of the notebook you found so that I know you found it!! If it's not the notebook you want you can exchange it...in fact we will swap for short times during the year.

STAY POSTED FOR MANY MORE OPPORTUNITIES TO PICK UP NOTEBOOKS and YOUR VERY OWN COPY OF THE BEAK OF THE FINCH!

All locations will be free to you...you just have to find a way to get there. Chances are, you're going to run into me. Email and ask me how I'm going to get there!

Science Journal Requirement

This is my book. I have kept one for about ten years, starting a new one when old ones were filled. In it I have drawings, thoughts, and notes about when and where I need to be. Often it is just a place to hash out ideas before I try them on anyone.

I have a collection of books at home. I have lost the occasional book, and come to realize what an integral part of my life they have become. Keeping a book has been one of the best things I've ever done.

Many scientists keep notebooks.

These are pages from Madam Curie's notebook.

Alexander Graham Bell's March 10, 1876, notebook entry in which he recounts the famous first words spoken over the new telephone. Alexander Graham Bell's notebook

Can you guess who's notebook this is?

That's right, Charles Darwin.

So, you probably guessed, I want you to keep a notebook as well.

What you may not have figured is that I want it to be something special to you. This summer you will build a notebook that is special to you.

So far, the focus is more on the object than the contents, and your ability to talk about your experiences when you come back from the summer. I suggest that you buy or acquire an old book, and recover the outside with newspaper or whatever interests you. Inside pages can be pasted over, painted over, or taken out and replaced altogether.

I can't wait to see some of your solutions!

Post a picture

Huriel thinks The Beak of the Finch is fascinating!

Post a picture of yourself reading the book!

Make sure you read page 48 and tell us what happened to Ian Abbott, and what you learned about what one wears when doing research in the field!!!
