This is my book. I have kept one for about ten years, starting a new one when old ones were filled. In it I have drawings, thoughts, and notes about when and where I need to be. Often it is just a place to hash out ideas before I try them on anyone.
I have a collection of books at home. I have lost the occasional book, and come to realize what an integral part of my life they have become. Keeping a book has been one of the best things I've ever done.
Many scientists keep notebooks.
These are pages from Madam Curie's notebook.
Alexander Graham Bell's notebook
Can you guess who's notebook this is?
That's right, Charles Darwin.
So, you probably guessed, I want you to keep a notebook as well.
What you may not have figured is that I want it to be something special to you. This summer you will build a notebook that is special to you.

So far, the focus is more on the object than the contents, and your ability to talk about your experiences when you come back from the summer. I suggest that you buy or acquire an old book, and recover the outside with newspaper or whatever interests you. Inside pages can be pasted over, painted over, or taken out and replaced altogether.
I can't wait to see some of your solutions!
Hello Mireya. I'm glad to see you are gearing up. I hope others are as well!!!
