I will miss you guys today, but my voice is gone, and now it's time to slow down for a second.
So today you have one thing to do:
Design a calorimeter experiment to test the primary productivity of a quadrat ecosystem.
check out:
http://www.sciencebuddies.org/science-fair-projects/project_ideas/FoodSci_p012.shtml#procedure
includes this cool picture:
Next week you will be investigating the relationship between biodiversity and the productivity of an ecosystem.
My expectations are:
An introduction (remember the triangle of logic) which includes (40pts):
A statement of problem
Background information
Hypothesis
All the vocabulary you can logically squeeze in.
Three suggested sites for sampling. (10pts)
A written procedure (40 pts):
reflects your knowledge of random sampling as a tool for increasing accuracy and precision in measurement.
Words from the word wall (could be as much as 30 pts)
This time around you will choose your square meter sample. You know how to sample, and document, only this time you will need to collect specimens for testing.
I would suggest that you go somewhere interesting, but keep in mind, that specimen collection is not allowed in state or federal parks.
Monday we will have an OPEN SPACE forum in which you discuss your proposed site and recruit team members.
DID I MENTION THAT THIS IS A TEST?!?
